What is CARPET-RIDE?
Climate change is recognized worldwide as one of the most important problems faced by humanity, determining its own survival. This has led to an increasing specific focus, and funding by funding organizations in their calls for the recruitment and support of new research projects. However, although there seems to be a large number of such projects that have either completed their course of action or are in operation, only a fraction have led to the production of marketable research and innovation outcomes that can provide the means for subsequent entrepreneurial efforts towards designing, developing, and delivering the necessary solutions that can help in achieving international goals for environmental protection.
Bearing the above in mind, project CARPETRIDE (Creating A Roadmap for Pro-environmental Entrepreneurship, Towards effective Research & Innovation Diffusion through commercial Exploitation) has a dual focus. The first aim is to define and describe the characteristics that publicly-funded innovative pro-environmental projects should feature, in order to increase their capability to produce exploitable research and innovation outcomes that can in turn lead to entrepreneurial exploitation. Τhe second goal is to produce a tool for the self-assessment of new innovative pro-environmental entrepreneurship. Future projects with a pro-environmental focus can benefit from this tool, by utilizing it in different phases of their operation, in order to determine their current status and receive specific advice and directions in order to increase their capability in achieving marketable innovative outcomes, and overall successfulness.
